Consumers of Casureco II Coop. Indignation rally

I am supposed to be posting this since last tuesday but sleep and tiredness get into my head and I could not think of a better way to write this post.

I know that Meralco had doubled their rate as I have heard from some friends but unexpectedly our electric cooperative had also doubled their bill and it was really very disappointing because we have never received any communications from them that they will be increasing their rate.

It was the talk of the town this week and of course, a sudden problem in our part too.  We felt that it was too much, how can a simple worker could afford to pay such huge amount. Yes, we really need electricity, it’s included in the basic necessity of our everyday living but for Heaven’s sake, do the consumers need to shoulder all that amount of   increase from the National Electric Corporation.  They have known that increase for quite sometime, I believe that it is in their hands to study how they were able to cope up with the increase that was given to them , so that their consumers would not be the one to shoulder it all.

We do not  question their authority to do so or their capacity to made the decision but at least they have the decency to act  for the benefit of all.   I really have no knowledge how an electric cooperative works but because I am a consumer it is my privilege and right and own free will to join such activities  to voice out our concerns.

Last June 1, 2010 a consumer meeting was held at the Naga City Gymnasium were thousand of people gathered to raise their voice and be heard.  Our Ex-Mayor Robredo was also there to give the consumers high hopes and to support the signature campaign.  We were there because we wanted to be a part of it.  It is one way of showing that we didn’t like the sudden increase Casureco II Cooperative had made in their electric bills.

After the consumers meeting for the signature campaign, groups of people from all walks of life  proceeded to Casureco II to submit the signature that was taken from the consumers.  Of course, would you agree to pay a 100% increase in your bill? For example, if you have a previous bill of Php. 1.000 before your current bill would be 2K or more.

We live in the modern world and changes is inevitable but we must always be prepared for our own self. .  i hope that they could solve this problem right away.

Of course, we do not want to have any  harmful occurrence nor violence , what we just wanted is for them to hear the cry of the people and hopefully they would eventually solve this problem.
